gov/1412/Current-Job-Openings The Library Aide fosters a positive patron experience by ensuring all book and material shelves are maintained in an accurate, clean and appealing fashion.
The primary role of this position is to shelve all library book/materials in a highly accurate and efficient method.
Secondary functions are to efficiently and accurately pull books for library loans, search for lost materials, mending damaged books and performing a wide variety of special projects as assigned.
Examples of Job Duties:

Processes book returns by retrieving books from drop boxes and shelving the materials following all library policies and organizational systems.
Cleans shelves and straightens all library materials.
Pull books and materials from library collection and processes for inter-library loans.
Checks in new material from acquisitions using library systems software.
Locates books on trace, lost and claims returned list.
Mends and repairs damaged books, including book jackets, torn pages and securing spines.
Maintains hourly statistics on patron counts and computer usage.
Assists librarians with youth and adult programs, such as showing movies, distributing program materials and organizing refreshments.
Assists in educating patrons on Library policies and enforcing those policies.
Required Education/Experience/Knowledge High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience performing customer service or administrative work preferred.
Ability to file alphabetically and numerically with high accuracy.
Aptitude to learn new software, especially that which is used in a Library setting.
Ability to perform detailed administrative and clerical tasks with only general supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively, with patience, tact and good listening skills.
Time management skills to prioritize tasks in a busy work environment.
Physical and Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the individual must regularly move around the library to assist patrons and library operations; repetitively operate all standard office equipment; required to occasionally lift, move and secure objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
