Position
Summary:This position is responsible for coding all services including major and minor surgical cases and E/M levels performed in both the office and hospital setting for MidMichigan Physicians Group, Family Practice Center and the MidMichigan Urgent Care locations. This position monitors compliance with third party payers guidelines while ensuring the maximum allowed reimbursement is attained. This position requires broad knowledge of current payer rules for all insurance companies we participate with, in addition to analytical skills to ensure all procedures are coded correctly for a timely and accurate reimbursement from all payers. This position must be able to work independently and make decisions based on their broad knowledge of CPT and ICD coding rules and regulations.
Qualifications:

Effective October 1, 2013, new hires must be RHIA or RHIT eligible and successfully complete the certification exam within six (6) months of date of hire. Employees hired prior to October 1, 2013, and have a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Office (CCS-P) designation are grandfathered and are not required to hold an RHIA or RHIT They must however maintain the certification to meet the requirements of the position.

Associates Degree in Health Information Technology program accredited by CAHIM. Coding experience from an AHIMA approved internship is required.

Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.

Written, oral, organizational and interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
