The Refrigeration Associate is responsible for contributing to the development of refrigeration test equipment including:
Drawing, building, and documenting such equipment, and ordering parts.
Most of the workday will be spent in a laboratory environment running custom built refrigeration stands, using custom controls and data acquisition, and reporting test results.
This person is responsible for ensuring safety and good housekeeping practices during daily operations, as well as, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain key pieces of test equipment for the SRI refrigeration group including:
    Refrigeration test stands and tools typical for HVACR field service.
  • Involved in coordination of periodic calibration of lab equipment.
  • Conduct tests following work procedures and ASHRAE standards.
    Reference appropriate resource documents.
  • Upload test data to company network.
  • Recognize validity of test data.
    Notify supervisor regarding non-conformances and be able to identify root causes of inconsistent test data.
  • Perform routine troubleshooting and repair on equipment.
  • Recognize priority conflicts of testing; prioritize and communicate test schedules to supervisor.
    Run multiple tests at a time.
  • Communicate testing issues to co-worker, supervisor, and customer.
    Provide timely status updates.
    Work with customers on special requests.
    Follow-up on customer questions or concerns.
  • Follow HSES procedures to operate in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining good housekeeping practices in the work area.
    Requires use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to fulfill safety requirements.
  • Actively involved with contributions to safety, housekeeping, environmental and process improvement initiatives.

Skills and Competencies Requirements

  • Required:
    Technical vocational training required with 10
    years hands on HVACR experience.
  • Preferred:
    a B.
    S.
    in an engineering discipline with 5
    years hands on HVACR experience.
  • Currently possess or able to acquire EPA refrigeration license.
  • Mechanical skills:
    Cut, flare, braze, charge, evacuate, clean out, pressure test refrigeration equipment.
  • Familiarity with electrical tools:
    Multi meter, soldering iron, wire cutter.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation:
    Data acquisition regarding pressure, temperature, and power measurements.
  • Familiarity with controls:
    Contactor, stepper motor, SSR, VFD.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Time Management, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Fluent in English both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
    stand, bend, crouch.

Considered a Plus

  • Familiar with National Instruments hardware & LabView software
  • Familiar with CAD
  • Ability to travel < 10%
